      Genioplasty

      Redefining confidence with chin augmentation

Have you ever noticed how our chins affect our whole look? It's true! Our chin and jawline play a big role in shaping our face.

Having a weak jawline might cause your nostrils to stick out more and make your lips look thinner. On the other hand, if your jawline is a bit strong, it can overshadow some of your other features.

Our facial bones play a big role in shaping our face's balance, and any irregularities or deformities can affect our facial expressions and even cause chewing issues.

This is where genioplasty comes in.

What is Genioplasty or Chin Augmentation?

Genioplasty, also called chin surgery, helps correct the position of your chin and jaws. It is a permanent procedure to preserve facial symmetry while enhancing its appearance.

This procedure is performed to correct issues such as a receded, pushed back, or misaligned jawbone. Genioplasty can address mild to moderate cases of a receded chin, square chin, overly prominent nose, and post-traumatic defects, resulting in improved facial harmony for a more balanced and attractive appearance.

If you're seeking a solution to enhance your side profiles and overall facial symmetry quickly and effectively, our Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, Prof. Pierre Bouletreau and Dr. Philippe Chanavaz, can help.

      Types of Genioplasty

We offer two types of chin surgery here at The Dome MedDental Clinic.

      Sliding Genioplasty

This procedure is used to address cases of retrogenia, where the patient's jawbone is positioned further back compared to other facial features. This surgery typically corrects jawbones that are overly enlarged and positioned forward relative to the rest of the face.

      Chin Implants

This technique is used to add size and shape to extremely small or recessed chin and jawbones. This procedure creates balance in the lower half of your face by projecting the jawbone forward for a more defined facial appearance.

      The Genioplasty Procedure

Our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons will do your genioplasty under general anesthesia, but it's a day-case treatment, so there's no need to stay overnight at the clinic. They will perform the surgery inside your mouth to avoid scars on the front of your face. A small incision is made under the lip to access the jawbone for the genioplasty procedure. He will use dissolvable stitches to close the incisions. Dissolvable stitches do not require removal but disappear over time.

      Frequently Asked Questions

If you find that your jawbone is excessively pushed back making your nose stick out, or if your jawline seems overly large, making your eyes look smaller in comparison, then chin augmentation might be the solution for you.

Chin surgery can make your neck appear slimmer and beautiful. You can have some other facial procedures along with genioplasty to enhance the look of your neck.

Chin augmentation is an investment, but the life-changing results it brings are truly priceless and last a lifetime. The final cost of your treatment will be discussed with you after your consultation.

When it comes to sophisticated surgeries such as genioplasties, it is very important to work with Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons with years of expertise and expertise. The cost of your treatment in our clinic will depend upon the complexity of your case, the technique, and surgical variations of the procedure. Other factors also contribute to the cost such as hospitalization fee (in rare cases of overnight stay), blood tests, medication, and so forth.

The healing period after this procedure typically lasts around 2 to 3 weeks for complete recovery. Many patients are able to return to their daily routines within 7 to 10 days.

Our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons will perform the procedure with precision and will make the incisions inside the lip and under the jawline; hence, no scars will be visible.

Your surgery will be done under general anesthesia, therefore, the procedure is pain-free. However, you may need some medications after your surgery to avoid any discomfort and some antibiotics to eliminate the chances of infections.

The following tips can help improve your comfort after your surgery.
