The Procedure
A basic dental Implant treatment to correct a missing tooth is a four-steps procedure. These include:
3D X-ray
Every dental implant treatment starts with a 3D X-ray examination of the patient’s teeth and jaw bone. Our registered implantologist Dr Philippe Chanavaz and Dr Asha Ponnappa examine the patient’s X-ray to determine the best direction of the treatment.
Safe Position & Drilling
After the thorough examination of the patient’s 3D X-ray, our implantologist will determine the safest position for drilling and placement of the implants. The implant has to be placed into the jawbone with accuracy and precision to ensure best results.
Implant/ Abutment Accurately Placed
Once the ideal position for drilling is determined, our implantologist drills and accurately places the implant into the jaw bone. During the healing process, the bone tissue will fuse with the abutment to provide a highly functional connecting element for the dental crown. When the healing is complete, the abutment will be placed over the implant to take an “impression”, which is the start of the process of Crown Placement.
Crown Placement
The dental crown is designed to suit the colour and shape of the missing tooth to blend seamlessly with the other teeth inside the patient’s mouth. The crown is then placed over the abutment to complete the implant procedure.
